Every few years, I move furniture around in my office to reenergize my productivity. But in doing so, I reversed a trend I began in 2014. I moved the stand-up desk away from my main work area this week. I found this post that talked about the beginnings of that adventure and am reposting it here! Enjoy!
FLASHBACK May 21, 2017 for this post: It’s been about 2 1/2 years since I 1st was introduced to a stand-up desk. The Round House was opening with promises of a great workspace. I’ve been working from home for several years I thought I would try working with a group of other individuals again. My small office 10×10 had no furniture. So after researching stand-up desks, I purchased one. Within the next few months, I moved back to my house bringing my stand-up desk with me. Since that time my work has been divided between stand-up and a sit-down desk on 2 relatively inexpensive laptop computers.
What are the biggest advantages I found working with a stand-up desk was that the lower back pain I had been suffering had gone away? Although I did enjoy working while sitting for part of the day too.
Several weeks ago, I replaced two smaller computers with one Dell XPS15 laptop. It’s much faster and lighter when traveling. Then my dilemma was which desk I put the new computer on. Enter the VariDesk. A stand-up desk that sits on your regular desktop so that you can raise or lower it based on your desired working Position. I was somewhat surprised at how sturdy it is and how easy to move from position to position. I’m a fan and would highly recommend this to anyone.
FLASHFOWARD Today (10/26/22) It’s been seven years and I’ve gone back to sitting at the desk. PS, I’ve got a great desk for sale if you’re looking. Still works great!
